Episode Four in a series of 360° videos around the Ards Peninsula & North Down is from Ballywalter, a coastal village, with popular sandy beaches, on the east (Irish Sea) coast of the Ards Peninsula and an important part of Scottish Laird, Sir James Hamilton’s estate in 1606. In this episode we hear about Andrew McKenzie, the Bard of Dunover, who published the first ever, single author book of Ulster-Scots poetry and read an extract from one of his poems and visit Whitkirk Cemetery, an important burial place of the first Scots to settle here.
